The Tolley’s Taxation Awards has revealed its 2026 shortlist, with Northamptonshire accountancy firm Phipps Henson McAllister named among those recognised for the very first time.
The firm is a finalist in the Best Small Tax Practice category, recognising the strength of its specialist tax offering and the care the team brings to clients facing complex and sensitive matters.
The tax service at Phipps Henson McAllister is led by specialist Beverley Foode, giving clients direct access to experienced, end-to-end support across complex advisory projects, HMRC enquiries and wider tax matters.
She is supported by the firm’s wider accountancy team on compliance, ensuring clients receive the highest level of service.
This structure allows clients to work directly with an experienced adviser who takes ownership of cases from start to finish, without handovers or fragmentation, unlike the experience of those who work with larger firms.
Over the past 12 months, Phipps Henson McAllister has delivered tax advisory support to between 100 and 150 clients, with demand continuing to rise.
Beverley’s work often centres on matters where both financial and personal pressures are high.
In one recent case, a detailed review of a client’s disclosure position led to a £25,000 reduction in their expected tax liability.
The firm’s breadth of support is another defining feature. Clients range from individuals and property owners to multi-million-pound businesses, seeking clarity on historic tax issues, disclosures and planning, all of which are supported within the same practice.
Ross Phipps, Managing Partner at Phipps Henson McAllister, said, “It is an incredible achievement for our practice to be a finalist at The Tolley’s Taxation Awards. We are fully aware of how well regarded these awards are in our sector and hope this will contribute to our growing reputation, both locally and nationally.
“This recognition reflects the trust our clients place in us at some of the most difficult moments they face. We often hear from people when they are anxious, under pressure and unsure what comes next and it’s our responsibility to guide them and reach a resolution they can live with.
“Bev has built something very special here. What she does so well is give people that sense of reassurance. The care she shows, alongside her depth of knowledge, is recognised by clients every day. They know exactly who they are speaking to and know that Bev is fully invested in helping them.”
Alongside its advisory work, the firm has continued to invest in client education, delivering briefings around Budget changes and expanding proactive tax planning, including targeted Inheritance Tax support for existing clients.
The shortlist places Phipps Henson McAllister among leading firms across the UK tax profession, highlighting a model built on accessibility, personability, trust and consistent, hands-on expertise.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place on 14 May 2026 at the Hilton Park Lane in London.
