Phipps Henson McAllister shortlisted three times at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards

Northamptonshire accountancy and advisory firm Phipps Henson McAllister (PHM) is a finalist in three categories at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards 2026, building on the firm’s strong performance at last year’s awards.

The firm has been named a finalist for Business of the Year for businesses with fewer than 50 employees.

It has also been shortlisted for Service Excellence after winning the silver award last year and has secured its first-ever nomination in the Business Innovation category.

PHM is a single-office, independent practice working with businesses across Northamptonshire, supporting clients from start-up stage through to established SMEs, offering advice across finance, compliance, payroll, tax and consultancy.

Over the past year, PHM has strengthened its team and introduced new services to support its growing client base.

Recent developments include the launch of a carbon accounting service designed to help SMEs measure and report their environmental impact, often for the first time.

The service responds to growing pressure on smaller businesses from customers, lenders and regulators to provide reliable environmental data and has already strengthened relationships with long-standing clients.

The firm has also invested in future capability by recruiting an AI undergraduate and is progressing towards B Corp accreditation, alongside continued improvements in digital working.

Ross Phipps, Managing Partner at PHM, said, “We’re a small team by design, so being shortlisted in three categories this year is something we’re really proud of. Most of our clients have worked with us for years and they know exactly who they are dealing with when they pick up the phone.

“To be recognised for service, performance and innovation at the same time says a lot about the consistency of our work and the decisions we have made as a firm, from remaining independent to investing in new services when clients need them.”

“I want to thank everyone in our team who has made this possible and look forward to celebrating with you all later this year.”

The PHM team will be attending the awards ceremony on 23 April 2026 at Franklin’s Garden at Cinch Stadium, where they will enjoy a three-course meal, drinks and entertainment while they wait to find out if they are winners.

Should the firm take home the gold prize in any of their nominated categories, they will automatically be entered into the SME National Business Awards in November.

Good luck to all the finalists.
